Brief Description:  Left Elevator Horn Mismatch

The original builder did a less than acceptable job drilling the two elevator horns through the main bearing hole. Tweaking the individual Heim bearings improved, but could not eliminate, the slight mismatch on the left elevator horn. I could force the hole upwards with some pressure and it would slide onto the bolt, but I did not like having that pressure on the elevator spar. It was unacceptable. They should align to the main bearing bolt with no, or virtually no mismatch. I drilled out the elevator horn and gave it to a welder to fill the hole so it could be redrilled properly. Two of the attach holes (red arrows in pic 3) will get 6/32 machine screws/locknuts with locktight. Checked with Vans Aircraft and that's acceptable.
