Radio Shack had telephone wire butt crimp connectors for the 26AWG wire splices back at the ELT. I staggered them so I didn't have a big bulge where 4 splices went. Crimped them all, and heat shrank the splice area for stability. An Adel clamp on the ELT mounting assembly secured the wires and I plugged them in. I haven't permanently mounted the ELT antenna yet, so I rigged one and tested the unit as well as tested the panel mounted remote activation/reset switch. During the first 5 minutes after each hour, you can test your ELTs without false alerting. I did that. It signaled to my handheld loud and clear. I also used the panel switch to activate it and reset it. It all worked. Yea!!!
26AWG wire is not easy to work with. Molex crimper squeezed the wires nicely.
