Brief Description:  Canopy 2 Try different techniques

Took canopy outside and let it warm to 80 on this beautiful day. I've read too much about canopy cutting, Vibrating cutter, cutoff wheel, dremel mini cutoff wheel, sand, don't' melt it, don't crack it, don't push too hard. Like everything else, I just went out and started testing methods. Today I used the vibrating cutter and trimmed 1/4 inch off rear excess material. Yes, you can make many small passes as you press it deeper, but in the end, I didn't like how the cut actually widened to a small V by re entering the previous cut over and over..blah blah. To remove the sharp edges from the cut, I used the non-toothed side of a hack saw blade and light pressure while scraping it along each side of the cut. Very neat. I'll do that anytime. I also filed a 1/8" round notch into the blade with gentle sloping sides, treated it to the scotchbrite wheel to remove any spurs. I held the notch 90 degrees to the canopy edge and with it trailing, I pulled it across the cut edges and it also did an outstanding job on both sides at one time. You can even pull it towards you at almost flat to the edge and it acts like a mini scraper to help remove reattached melted chips that stick like glue to the edge. This tool I like. Tried vibrating tool triangle sanding and its was ''ok'', but I'll experiment with other things. Tried the vixen file and I am just too scared I will let it tilt and one of those teeth will dig into the edge. Won't use that. Finally, whatever you do, grind the teeth off any hacksaw blade you use. Hard on your hands and, one time I started drawing the blade across the edge only to see I had the tooth side down. Thats why I practice. Tomorrow I'll use both cutoff wheels and decide which method is for me. Pictures later.
