Brief Description:  Prepare the Tip Up Canopy Latch

I have been really lax in pictures so I will make up for lost time shortly. The tip up canopy latch was from JD Air Co. Very nice latching mechanizm but you will spend a few hours smoothing out the cut marks everywhere. I used sanding tape, dremel with small stone grinder, 1 inch scotch bright wheel and just plain sandpaper to give the parts a completed look. I think I will take them over to a local shop for color anodizing. Planning ahead for a keylock, I cut a slot in the lower piece of angle to accept a rotating locking latch when operated with a key from outside. Will fab that later. This unit has a nice latching movement. Also created a 4 inch x 9 inch scrap .032 aluminum template to mount this mechanixm and cut out the slots for the two latching levers. When closed they protrude outward .040 ( you choose anywhere from .032 to .040 and then clamp the levers in place before you match drill both of the 3/16 mounting holes). Pretty straight forward if you study the plan notes.
Used the dremel cut off wheel to cut the long lines of the lever openings and dressed them up by filing. The template is done and next up is to tape the template in place and match drill and match cut into the fuselage skin. Don't want to screw that up.
