Brief Description: Install Horizontal Air Intake Plenum 2
Attached 063 angle to front edge of plenum with a reduced edge flange that matches the overhang of the KN air filter rubber at the front. The lower cowl will nearly meet that edge and the resulting baffle rubber will overlap onto the KN filter rubber about 3/4 inch. Drilled the plenum attach holes for nutplates. Attached nut K1100-8 (dimpled) nut plates, dimpled three attaching metal parts (1- Hold down cover pieces, 2.-Baffle inlet ramp, 3.-Intake plenum attach angles). With everything screwed together, the whole plenum is rock solid. I had some earlier concerns that the front edge (not having any inlet ramp metal or cover hold down metal, would be flimsy. Not so. The 063 angle made for very secure surface. That part of the installation is complete. Will move on now to the alternate air door mounting. Still need to seal the corners on the intake plenum with proseal, probably...
One of many mountings and dismountings...
Lower cowl baffle rubber will overlap this forward edge when mounted.
Typical plenum attach points to inlet ramp with nutplates.
