Sky-Tec made a new starter which is lighter and more powerful than the others. Its called the XLT, for extra light. Waited over 4 months for production to hit its stride and I now have it and its installed. Nice. Very nice. I had a Magnaflite which was sort of a lighter starter but still big. My mixture control linkage was rotated to make it work and it was not in what I would call optimum position when full rich. It was close to parallel with the arm which made pulling it out for leaning slightly hard, but doable. Now, I can re clock the arm and make a very natural throw which makes me very happy. And, the starter does not interfere with the horizontal air intake snorkel. Nice piece of equipment, worth waiting for.
Much Much nicer than my former Magnaflite. And even lighter..
I can rework my mixture control now for a much more efficient throw now that I have space.
