Brief Description:  Fit Cowling 8

My son visited after his 2nd ironman in Panama City, FL. He was eager to help with the RV-6A so I found several things that the two of us could accomplish. We prepared the horizontal hinge lines for adhesive and riveting. Rough sanded the cowl under the hinges with #80 grit then mixed up several doses of JB Weld and proceeded to apply it to the hinges with a squared off tongue depressor, clecoed it quickly and moved on to the next hinge half. The JB sets up is about 10 minutes which was enough time to clecoe, wipe rear of each clecoe, un cleco and re-cleco to eliminate a lot of the squeezed JB Weld. After done, I went back with the edge of a razor cutter blade and removed any interfering JB from near the hinge eyes or along the mating hinge eye surfaces. Next day Paul riveted the hinges after re-countersinking the fiberglass to remove the last vestige of JB Weld. It all riveted together very nicely. One or two spots where the JB+fiberglass caused a slight fingernail catching lip between upper and lower cowl will get smoothed out with fill and/or sanding. Very happy with the outcome.
