Manual Reference:  Lower Cowl Support
Brief Description:  Fabricate Lower Cowl Rear Support

I think Vans plans for the nose gear lower cowl support were targeting vertical induction engines that have a slightly different shape near the nose gear. With the forward facing fuel injection cowl, the slope is sharper along the bottom and it required fabricating some parts. I also left 1 1/2 inch of lower cowl exit under the exhaust pipes aft of the firewall. That required fabbing a longer support structure. Also, the nosegear gusset was so small it would not take two bolt holes to attach the cowl support. I used adel clamps and some 063 plate to make a decent attach point for this assembly. Thankfully, another VAFer emailed me his solution and it worked perfectly. What took the longest was determining the measurements to make the bent part. I made the parts and had the cowl on and off many times to mark exactly where to rivet the spacers.. Its done. On to more stuff, like oil door and baffle trimming.
