Brief Description:  Mount the nose wheel

Received the nose wheel back from AntiSplatAero, LLC. They did a nice job on the bearing changeout and the balancing and truing of the wheel. This bearing is a permanently sealed bearing and with the modifications complete, the wheel bolt (AN6) is torqued to 180 inch lbs on the wrench (165 in/lbs actual torque and 15 in/lbs of resistance torque on the nylock nut). The nylock nut resistance is NOT torque on the bolt and you add that to the wrench so you get the desired torque for the bolt and nut size you are using. AN6=160 to 190 inch lbs torque. I chose 165. You can do this because the wheel now has an internal spacer that absorbs the torque without hurting the bearing. This is different from the plan instructions for torquing the axle nut to 7-10 Ft/lbs. Thats because with the standard tapered bearings, a certain amount of friction against the felt grease seal is necessary to keep the whole bearing from rotating in the race. Thats the simple explanation leaving out more details.
