Manual Reference:  Replace Outer Rib
Brief Description:  Replace Outer Rib in Right Wing

My replacement rib W411L arrived today. I fluted the flanges to lay the rib flat. Polished all edges and circles. Clamped it in place and match drilled #41 through the dimpled wing skins, clecoing it every hole as I progressed. Wrestled with air drill inside leading edge to match drill #30 most of the leading edge flange holes. Couldn't reach 3 of them. Match drilled #30 the holes through the rear spar into the rear rib flange. Took out the rib, clecoed my original leading edge hole template in place for those holes I managed to drill. Then I drilled the missing 3 holes using that template. It was the same template used on the old rib. Dimpled all the #41 drilled holes and remounted to check fit. Unbelievably I only had to hand manipulate one of the leading edge holes to line up for the cleco. This solved the issue where on the old rib, there was an angle inside the lower end to fix an early mistake. Unfortunately, that angle and the associated holes would not allow proper mounting of the aileron bracket. Problem solved. I will add the old rib to my box of surplus metal.
Will remove and prime the new rib along with priming the flaps and aileron parts. Flaps are ready to disassemble, dimple, countersink and prime.
