Brief Description: Left elevator rib dimpling. E-705 error.
Good and bad once again. I mis-read the manual and countersunk the wrong part. More on this later, but don't put the countersinks in the E-705 as I showed here.
I then tried using the blind rivet squeezer dimpling tool to reach the hard-to-reach holes in the rib. This didn't work out too well since I broke the shafts on the dimple tool (they should last about 20 dimples before breaking). I went back to the "die and whack" method. Fit the rib over the female die screwed to the bench, put the male die in a piece of wood, lined it up, then gave it a good smack with the mallet. Not the best dimple, but it works!
Countersink the SPAR! Not the flange like I did here by mistake.
This tool works better on thin skin than a rib.
Finally, a good dimple in the tight trailing edge of the rib.
