With my long hiatus, all of the aileron spars have warped, so another set is on order from Wicks. But, that didn't stop me from using the slightly warped spars for a practice run at cutting the spars to size and test-fitting the ribs.
I'm encouraged. It went together better than I expected. I spent a lot of time cleaning the epoxy and varnish out of the ribs where they mate to the spars and the time and patience has paid off.
The aileron is sitting on the build table I built this week. It's based on the EAA Chapter 1000 table and measures 40" wide x 96" long x 34" high. I can assemble the ailerons on this and when it's time to build the wings and fuselage, I'll build another just like it for a total length of 16'.
