Brief Description:  Page 5 The day finally arrived. The Kit Delivery.

July 3 2012

The day I have been waiting for has finally arrived. 8:am July 3 2012 Jim Ratte rang my door bell and said "I'm here, I'm here, Roll out the red carpet and yell hora hora." Not really, but thats how I felt.
We unloaded his trailer and layed the stuff on the floor in the garage and then put the wings on my famous wing hoist. I pressed the button and up it went--- 2 feet and then right back down. I tried again, and it did the same thing, then the chain came off the lift motor(garage door opener). "F@#K" the first of many bad words to be said during the next year of building.
I had a feeling this might happen. All garage door openers use a counter balance spring to help with the weight of the door. I did not use a spring and the weight of two wings was to much. Bill Starkey and I tried his one wing the day before and it worked. Now I have to go back to the drawing board.
Bill Starkey showed up and told me He was moving his project to the Leesburg Airport into the newly acquired EAA Chapter 534 Hanger to get help with the wing covering and painting. I knew he was going to do that but was surprised he was starting today. He and a fellow EAA member started moving some of his stuff out of the garage. Talk about timing.
