Brief Description:  Riveted flap fairings

Sam Beale came over to help me rivet the flap fairings onto the fuselage. It would have been almost impossible for me to rivet them on myself since I could not shoot the rivets on the outside of the fuselage and buck the rivets on the inside of the fuselage. The only problem was that I could not get the bucking bar inside the little nooks and crannies to buck the rivets without hitting some of the nutplates which hold down the cockpit floor. So, before we started riveting on the flap fairings, I had to drill out about a dozen cockpit floor nutplates. Then, Sam and I slammed the rivets in and the flap fairings look good. Later, I will have to rivet the nutplates back in again. What a pain. Next, Sam and I worked on the canopy slider bar. We finally got it bent to the proper shape and then drilled the umpteen holes holding the bar components together. It was great fun working with Sam again. Soon, he will be starting on his wing skins and I can return the favor by helping him rivet them on.
