Brief Description:  Started Finishing Kit

Tonight was a turning point in my construction. For many months, I have been working on the fuselage kit. The last tasks for completing the fuselage kit are riveting on the top fuselage skins and fabricating the baggage door. However, the instructions tell you to put this step off until you have most of the plumbing and wiring completed. Otherwise, you will not be able to get to the innards of the fuselage to put in all of the wires, hydraulic lines and cables necessary to complete the project. So, I am putting those steps off until I have mostly completed my wiring and plumbing. Now, there is nothing left to do on the fuselage (at least until I get some help riveting the flap fairings onto the fuselage. I started the night by priming the flap fairings as well as the part of the right side of the fuselage that will be covered by the right flap fairing. With nothing left to do on the fuselage, I started the next big phase of construction: the finishing kit. The first task in the finishing kit is to fabricate the rail that will support the aft section of the canopy structure. I started the fabrication by cutting the rail sections to length and starting to drill the plethora of holes called for in the plans. Later, this canopy rail will be screwed to the fuselage.
