Brief Description:  Misc Tasks - Cont'd

Before permanently fastening the boot cowl I had some tasks that I wanted to finish while I still had access.

I have the remote for my ELT mounted above the pilot side Dynon screen, which works from a functional point of view, but every 10 years the module needs to be removed to replace the battery, and accessing the nuts on the back side of the panel was going to be a real hassle once the upper boot cowl was in place. To resolve this I used my 3D printer to make a backing plate that would accept sheet metal screws to hold the module in place. I used 3M double stick tape to make sure this stays in place when it comes time to remove the module for battery renewal.

I thought since I had the remote module apart, and it has been 2 years since I first installed the battery, I should take the opportunity to replace the batteries in both the remote module and the sound unit. I had the sound unit mounted upside down in the radio stack area behind the panel. When I put it there it was a slick place to have it, but once all the wires were run I found that access was difficult and decided to move it to the same mounting plate as the ELT unit. There was just enough space to mount it under the arm of the elevator servo.

I also installed the hoses to connect the fresh air intakes to the ball vents in the panel.
