Brief Description:  Created new temperature probe mount.

Some time ago I created a mount for the comm antenna that incorporated the Dynon external temperature sender located under the fuselage. Another S-20 builder mentioned the possibility of the hot engine air and exhaust getting "sucked" to the bottom of the fuselage and reaching the temperature sender causing erroneous readings. To eliminate this issue I made a new mount to locate the probe in clean air flow out on the wing.

I wanted a location that was obvious to the moving air, but not obvious to my head when walking under the wing, a place that provides a simple set of mounting provisions, and a bonus would be the ability to use and existing access panel in the case the probe needs to be replaced at some point. I decided that just inside the jury strut bracket offered these characteristics.

I used the scrap aluminum removed from the fuel cap area of the upper wing skins to develop the mount as shown. I was able to measure the covering on the opposite wing to determine that there is virtually no sag between the ribs in this area.

The covering will be glued to this mount, and I will probably make a new jury strut plastic reinforcement plate to also provide some reinforcement for the probe. I debated on running the wiring to the magnetometer out in the wing tip, but ultimately decided to run it to the fuselage where it will connect to the ADAHRS.

I used some 1/8" braided cable sheathing from cable ties and more to provide some protection against chaffing for the probe wires. The inside of a ball point pen is the trick to getting this braided covering on the wires.
