Brief Description: Covering the Ailerons - Part 1.
Covered the ailerons and started putting the patches on.
* I found that the rivets on the aileron ribs had a sharp point on them where the stem was pulled. I used a dremel and sanding drum to touch each on and eliminate the sharps.
* The instructions show anti chafe tape only on the sides of the ribs. I put tape on any areas that I thought were sharp, which included most edges of the ribs and especially the end caps. Once the covering was on I was glad I did this.
* For the ends, I cut a flap along the straight part and glued it in place on the end cap. Then I made a horizontal cut at the center of the radius, and used an iron to form it over the end cap, and then glued in place.
* To glue the second layer on the front tube I used a coupe of bar clamps to hold the aileron vertical for easy access.
* I have all the patches cut, and the plastic parts are glue in place. Next step is to glue the patches in place and then the tapes.
