Brief Description:  Fuselage Formers

Installed Fuselage Former Tubes.

Comments:
* I went to the hardware store and bought their whole supply of 1/2"OD x 1/4" ID nylon spacers and washers. I was able to find them 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2" thick. This was much easier than cutting spacers from the raw stock tubing RANS provides. Cost = about 10.00.

* On the upper side formers I learned to 1) rivet the front in place, 2) install and wire the spacer length as indicted at location "D", 3) install and wire the spacers at the vertical posts, and 4) leave the diagonal posts for last. Once the verticals are done, adjust the former to be straight and at the right height, and then drill the holes for the diagonals. (adjusting the height will also move the location of the holes in the former tube at the diagonal locations..)

* To align the holes while drilling the1/4" side formers I used a 1/16" drill bit, and slipped a piece of music wire in the first hole drilled. When drilling the rest I made sure the wire pointed straight down.

* I used a dremel with a 1/2" sanding drum to modify the front of the top former.
