Installed the tappet bodies in both the left and right cases. Pre-lubed tappet bodies, and applied high performance assembly lube to tappet faces and cam lobes. Installed cam into right case with copper wire. Installed all the o-ring seals.
I decided to use an alternate procedure for sealing the case... besides the silk thread method. I get a lot of exposure to aircraft engine building in the area... from antique to racing, to airboats. I have seen lycoming airboats with Holley 750's, nitrus, super chargers... turning over 3500 rpm. The good old boys like using pro-seal for the case... They abuse these engines... push them to their limits... Lycoming publishes procedures for alternate methods including RTV-102 and Loctite-515... but if you read the specs for 515... it is not recommended, and 518 should be used.
Anyway... it no way am I recommending pro-seal as a certified alternative...
It works for me...
Joined the cases... with no issues, installed the front crank seal.
