Still not finding much time to work in the shop lately.
I did go flying over the weekend... C172 G1000 with the synthetic vision. I really like the new technology, but being from the old school of flying, kind of takes the fun out of it. I shot a GPS 11 LPV approach into KGIF (Winter Haven, FL) and flew the published missed without really having to think about anything... is that good? I personally enjoy the planning part of flying. That was hands on... the second was flown with the autopilot, which I believe is a Pilot's best friend and should be used in any single pilot IFR operation. Again I enjoyed... but as an instructor I really think students today should learn basics before transistioning into these planes.
