OK... Here are some photos of the process I will be using to label the cockpit.
This a test piece, basically cleaned, etched primed, 2 coats of enamal color, and 2 coats of clear.
The process is simple, and most anyone that has build model cars has used water decals.
www.Decalpaper.com offers a number of options.
I bought a pack of 25 sheets of inkjet water decal paper for about $18 and began to experiment.
My final results start by printing out whatever you really want on the paper.
Then I applied only 1 coat of Krylon Clear Coat over the decal. The directions say to apply 2 to 3 coats but I found it made the decal fairly thick, and I didn't like the way looked after it was applied.
Let it dry for about an hour, cut to size and apply it as you would any other water decal.
I then I allowed the decal to dry for about 3 hours, and applied 2-3 coats of clear over the entire piece and here are the results. As you can see, you are only limited by your creativity.
It is durable and easy to clean... Sure beats some of the $200-$400 processes I was looking in to...
