Brief Description:  Assist Rob on Oxygen System

I got a text from a friend Rob asking if I could give him a hand on Saturday. It was time for oil change, brake pad change and he wanted to install a new Oxygen system he picked up while at Airventure 2021. Rob has been a real great assistance in my build and I was glad to assist him.

We started with the "fun" stuff. We pulled the wheel pants and while Rob was cleaning up the parts I was removing the old pads. One was cracked and it fell apart as soon as I started taking out the first rivet. Rob finished the clean up and we got the new pads on using Avery's brake rivet dies in the hand squeezer.

Next was the oil change. The rain had stopped and we jumped in to go get the oil warm. It was a nice flight with the variable ceiling from 10,000 feet to 1,500 feet. We darted down the runway performing the brake burn in, then taxied back for a takeoff and a short flight to dance amoung the clouds......it was a great little flight. Following that it was a typical oil change.

It was now time for the oxygen system install. Rob placed it on the right side of the baggage area in his RV7. The install involved a 1/16 inch doubler on the side panel. The install came out fantastic. The gauge can be read and the bottle reached easily from the pilot seat position.

Two of us doing the work made it go a lot quicker but it was a full day from 1030 until about 2030.
