Brief Description:  Landing Gear Fairings and Misc Part 1

I started by removing the aluminum forms from the scarf joint on the cowling that I used to hold the fglass strips to keep them conformed to the cowl. I then removed the peel ply that I had placed over the strips before clamping the forms. The result looked really good....it was nicely conformed to the outer and inner sides of the cowl. Not just to get the cowl back on and cut the area of the joint to conform to the firewall and remedy the mistake I made in the original cut.

Well Rob texted me and volunteered to come over and sometime later today to see what he can give me a hand with anything. Well he came in the afternoon and we decided to attack the landing gear fairings.

First we started with getting the brakes and the axel nuts completed. Rob got the axle nuts completed with the cotter pins installed. I worked on getting the outboard brake discs bolted on and safety wired.

With that complete we put the landing gear fairings and the wheel fairings on in anticipation of working the four intersection fairings. They were still "in the rough" sans clay in the state that they were in when Rick left from the windscreen visit last year which we also completed the landing gear fairings. (To be continued)
