Brief Description:  Smoke Tank Feed Line

I spent the rest of the session working on the smoke tank oil main feed line that goes to the manifold on the firewall. This is the third try and I have material for one more if this failed but success was achieved and the hose pressure checked by using air pressure and placing the line in a my laundry sink filled with water.....not a single air bubble.

The hoses don't need special tools according to the video from the company that put out the smoke system. Well I found it IMPOSSIBLE to get the ferrel on around the nylon tubing inside the stainless steel braided hose without using a small grinding wheel and x-acto knife to get a bevel to get the ferrel started. If I didn't do that the ferrel would dig into the tubing and slice it!

Once I would get the ferrel on I would have to get the fitting put inside the nylon tubing. The fitting has a sharp edge on the brass end and does not want to fit in the ferrel after it is on the tube. I have a tapered punch that I was able to use to push the tubing to the sides and make it appear to be large enough to get the fitting inside. Never could!! I ended up tapering and actually removing material from the fitting brass tube to get the fitting to go into the tube enough to get the threads engaged in order to get the fitting installed. They are a royal pain or I am doing something really wrong.

Well third time was a charm and the hose is completed!
