Tonight I wanted to get the bolts for attaching the snorkel to the servo modified. The bolts I am going to use are Grade 8 zinc plated. AN fine thread bolts won't work as the servo has course thread 1/4-20 threads. There are some engine bolts that one can buy for $2-$3 each but for this the Grade 8 will work great (after all Vans gives you four general general hardware store zinc plated bolts in the kit).
Anyway......I want to be able to put safety wire on the bolts and decided to drill them for using .032 safety wire. The little fixture I bought from Avery years ago really is lacking...drills easily get caught up and bind and break. Too much time and four broken drills later I got them done......I should have just set them up one at a time in the mill and did them.....probably wouldn't have broken a single drill. Anyway heads are drilled and deburred.
I gathered a bit more hardware and rivets for the flanges and called it quits for the night.
