Brief Description:  Mic & Phone jacks-2

After researching numerous sites, it appears that the hole for the mic jack needs to be ½”, and the hole for the phone jack should be 3/8”. So, I marked all four locations and used an angle drill to cut a #40 hole in each. Used a step bit to open up the holes to 3/8”, then opened the holes for the mic jack to ½”. Also drilled a #40 hole for a small PTT switch for the GIB. Deburred all holes and installed the jacks. They will have to come back out to solder on some wires (on order). Next, I needed to relocate the transponder ident wire. I originally ran all wires from a Dsub connector that will connect to the transponder thru a snakeskin to the front of the panel. The ident wire does not need to go to the panel, so I used a soldering iron to melt a small hole in the snakeskin just after it passes thru the front spar web. Pulled out the ident wire and wrapped the exit point with some self fusing tape. This ident wire will run to the terminal strip mounted on the spar cap.
