Brief Description: Power outlet rear, mic & phone jacks
Last post for this year—has been very cold here last several days, so work on the plane was not real productive. I marked and used an angle drill to drill a pilot hole in the right rear armrest where I want to locate the power outlet for the GIB. After the pilot hole, I used a step bit to open up the hole. Cleaned up the hole and installed the outlet. I next marked tentative location for the mic and head set jacks front and rear. I was about to drill holes and then recalled from some log that the hole for the phone jack should be 3/8”, while the hole for the mic jack should be ½”. Since the actual mic plug is smaller than the phone plug, it seemed backwards to drill a larger hole for the mic jack. This issue needs more research before drilling. I also marked a location for a switch below the rear jacks for a small push button switch. I am thinking I want a push to talk switch there in addition to the PTT on the rear stick. That way, if I have the rear stick removed, the GIB can still talk by using the PTT below the jacks. Happy New Year Everyone!
