Brief Description:  Drilled outboard bracket-left side

Received a 3/8” transfer punch today. Checked the alignment one more time—still good. Used the transfer punch thru the left outboard wear plate to smack a nice dimple centered by the wear plate. Installed the bracket and one bolt. Drilled the hole to 1/8” with an electric 3/8” drill using the bracket as a guide for alignment. Moved to a ¼” bit and a big 1/2” drill. After the ¼” bit, I moved to a 5/16” bit and finally a 3/8” bit. The bit grabbed, but the drill didn’t stop. Nancy was close by operating the can of cool spray and my elbow caught her on the cheek. Ouch! Ran a 5/16” reamer thru the hole, then went back to drilling with the 3/8” bit, followed by a 3/8” reamer. Checked the fit of the bolt—seems ok. Removed the bracket, used the transfer punch on the rear hole and started the process again. Can’t believe it took over an hour to drill 2 lousy holes! Will tackle the other side tomorrow evening after I recheck the alignment one more time. Only got one pic tonight--too busy fighting with the 1/2" drill.
