I clecoed the skirts back to the frame. The outside latch has to be spaced away from the skirts in order for it to rotate. I installed the latch and measured as best I could to determine how much of a spacer I need where the latch rod sticks thru the frame and the skirt. I picked up a 1” long bushing (Lowe’s Aviation Dept.) and cut off ¼”, then ground down the end to .2” to true it up. I put together the entire latch assembly including the outside latch along with the spacer. The spacer is about right—may take just a little bit more off of the end. I ground a bevel on the outside latch handle and rounded the corner where it was contacting the skirt. Will take a bit more fiddling to get it closer, but I’ll wait until after the skirts are permanently attached to the frame.
