Brief Description:  Prep to glue skirts to canopy

This weekend planned activity is to get the skirts glued to the canopy, then riveted to the frame. I removed the skirt and sanded down an area on the right side near the back that didn’t flow as smoothly as the same area on the left side. I removed about ¾” of the tape from the lower sides of canopy in order to add a nice line for the edge of the sikaflex. Installed the skirts back onto the frame. I countersunk all of the holes—used a pop rivet to check hole as I moved along to make sure none would sit proud. I ran a tape line around the bottom of the canopy plexi approximately .1” above the top edge of the skirt. Then I ran a tape line around the skirts flush with the top edge. I left the skirts square on the top edge and plan to make a fillett between the top outside edge of the skirt and the bottom of the tape I ran on the canopy. Removed the skirts once more and used a scotchbrite pad to scuff the glass below the tape line. Next I ran a line of tape on the inside of the skirts to make a smooth edge for the sikaflex just below the upper rail of the canopy frame. Early tomorrow, before the heat gets up, Nancy and I will clean, prime and add sikaflex to the canopy and skirt, then cleco the skirts to the frame. Should be loads of fun!
