Was out for a few days, but back to work on the canopy. Received the replacement 661 slide block. Measured as before and drilled a 1/16” hole on each side. On the first block I drilled both sides in one pass, but when the clevis pin was inserted, it quickly showed the holes were not in alignment. By drilling each side separately, the holes came out much more aligned. Reamed these holes up to 3/16”. Need to pick up a 5/16” forstner bit today to counterbore for the head of the clevis pin. Drilled the holes in the canopy rails/fuselage to #19 and attached with #8 screws. Stuck a 1/8” rivet in the aft holes to hold rails in alignment while the others were drilled. Still have the very aft holes to drill up to final size, but will remove the rails to drill those holes. Measured and transferred location of the attachment block (sits down in the canopy receptacle) to the F807 bulkhead. Drilled 1/16” holes, then removed and verified the location on the nylon block. Reinstalled block and match drilled these holes up to #30. Will final drill, dimple and c/s tonight. Goal is to start cutting the canopy this weekend.
