Brief Description: Inspection cover for stall warner access
Finally figured out the problem with the float senders. I do have the correct left and right sender. However, the quick builders in the Philippines riveted the nutplates for the sender on the right wing on the wrong side of the T-708 access plate. Will call Van’s next week for a replacement. So, I moved on to the inspection plate for access to the stall warner (which I’m not using). Match reamed the doubler to the skin. Dimpled the skin, dimpled the doubler , counter sunk the holes with a debur bit that secure the nutplates, and dimpled for the #6 screws. Scuffed, cleaned and shot primer on the doubler. I did not like the fit of the inspection cover that came with the kit. It had an 1/8” gap all around between the edges of the cover and the edges of the skin. I made a new cover from some .025 sheet that fits much better. Dimpled for screws and shot primer. While the primer was drying, I riveted the nutplates to the doubler with some little NAS rivets.
Doubler, old and new access cover
Doesn't show up real well, but plate looks a bit small
