Brief Description:  Finished inspection plate-worked on fuel sender

Finished up the stall warner access plate. Riveted the doubler to the skin. Had 3 rivets to drill out and reset—pneumatic squeezer slipped and mashed only a portion of the heads. After resetting the 3 bad rivets, I screwed the inspection plate on. I used a drop of Boelube liquid on each screw—much easier to insert the screws into the nutplates. Then I moved back to the left fuel sender. Adjusting the sender is a bit of a challenge with the tanks already built. Plans show a maximum of 1/8” gap top and bottom. I taped a 1/8” drill bit inside the tank to the top and bottom skin. Then I looped a piece of thread around the float and ran it out the drain port. I left a small flashlight inside the tank and installed the end plate using only a few screws. Was able to look thru the hole for the fuel pickup to observe the operation of the float while moving it with the thread. Had to make one small adjustment (bend) to get it within the 1/8” specs. Good enough for this tank—ready to close the access plate. Can hardly wait to start with the proseal—NOT!
