Brief Description:  Bottom rudder cap-12

Well, I just can’t get the wire to work going into the front left of center without too much flex in the wire with full left rudder. Good friend and fellow RV8 builder Bill Crissinger says just make right turns! Easy for him—he’s an accomplished tail dragger driver—I am not! So, I drilled a hole in the glass I used to close off the nose of the cap. Drilled the hole directly under the pivot point of the hinge to minimize wire movement as the rudder swings. I added some nylon spiral wrap to the wire and installed the cap. Wow, I think this might actually work. I removed the cap and trimmed a bit on the left side where it was contacting the adel clamp, and smoothed out the opening of the hole so that it has a “funnel” appearance. I will add a rubber grommet if I can find one that will fit the thicker glass & micro. I also laid up two layers of glass on the inside of the cap to begin closing off the original hole that I wished now I had not cut. But who knew—suppose that’s why this is an “experimental”.
