Last night I mixed up some more resin with micro filler—made it much thicker than the last batch—maybe what they call “dry” micro. I gave the VS tip another coat as well the top of the rudder tip. Tonight the mixture was hardened, so I checked the fit of the VS tip—needs to be sanded a bit for clearance with the rudder. Sanded with 100 grit until I got a nice clearance. Could not see any pin holes, but I’ll give it a coat of resin without any filler to be certain. I got the HS down from the wall and secured it in a cradle—then I installed the left elevator. Marked and cut the fiberglass tip of the HS using my dremel. Also made a cut on the elevator tip where the joggle interfers with the lead weight. Cut a foam insert for the HS tip. The tip seems a bit narrow, so I wedged another piece of foam in the center. Next session I’ll try some heat to see if I can relax the glass on the tip.
