Brief Description:  Installing Elevators-II

Adjusting rod end bearings. I probably way over thought this issue--just didn't want to mess up. I drew some parallel lines on a ruler and then inserted an Averey alignment pin thru the rod end bearing. Used the ruler behind the bearing to assure the pin was parallel with the spar. Although the alignment pin does not come to a sharp point, using another starrett rule, I was able to measure from the spar to the tapered end of the pin. Set all distances to 27/32”. Picked up a nylon bushing at Lowes (had to turn it down a wee bit). Put a piece of masking tape on the end of the elevator horn. Inserted the bushing in the center bearing, then inserted the shank end of a drill bit to put a small mark on the masking tape. Removed everything and clamped a caliper to the horn, set one side to the mark made by the drill bit. Checked to other side to see where the hole in the horn would exit. Think it should all work ok.
