Brief Description:  Mount ELT Antenna

I decided to take a short break from the baggage door and work on the ELT for a bit. I am mounting the antenna on the right passenger armrest. The armrest itself would probably support the antenna, but I decided to add a doubler underneath. I cut a rectangular shaped piece of .040 and laid out some mounting holes. After picking the exact location, I clamped the doubler to the armrest and match drilled the 4 mounting holes as well a center hole for the antenna base. I screwed up drilling a couple of holes in the doubler, so I made another using the scrapped one. I clecoed it in and drilled the mounting holes up to #30, then used a unibit to enlarge the center hole to ½” as called for by the antenna mounting instructions. I deburred, cleaned up and shot with primer. When dry, I clecoed in place and riveted the doubler to the armrest. I added the antenna—location will work ok. I need to make some small stand-offs to keep the antenna curved around the bulkhead so as not to contact the canopy.
