Brief Description: Made spacer block to set incidence
Today I spent an afternoon making a gauge for setting the wing incidence. The plans specify a spacer block 2 51/64” tall to attach to a level and set over the web of the rear spar. I tried various combinations of scrap angles, different pieces of sheet scrap etc and finally decided to use a piece of angle (left over from the tank attach bracket) and some .063 sheet to extend to the required distance. Getting the end square while getting the correct distance was a bit of trial and error (quite a bit!). I fooled around with this for quite some time—used a caliper to measure the distance. Finally got it set, clamped the two pieces together and match drilled to #40, then 1/8” and finally a #30 ream. Squeezed in a couple of rivets and checked the distance again—2.7969” or 2.797 (my caliper doesn’t go that far). One more step toward getting ready for the wing install. Only logging 1 hour out of about 3.5 hours of getting not much accomplished.
