I kept putting the tips on and they didn't fit very well because the flanges were too long and going in too far and riding up on rivets. It was then I saw on the drawing that these flanges should be 1/2 inch. The come about 5/8.
So I used the cutting disk to cut off a sliver. The cutting disk worked great for this. I sanded the edges smooth. The aluminum strips did not come loose during this cutting process.
With the flanges now down to 1/2 the tips fit great.
