Brief Description:  Removing the inner crankshaft oil plug (for fixed

For operations with a fixed pitch prop, the Lycoming service directions tell us to either pierce or remove the inner oil plug in the forward crankshaft. This took some doing. I successfully removed the front plug, but couldn't get the inner plug out without simply piercing it. Also, we must be very careful not to damage the cross-tube about 3 inches forward of the real plug.

I called in the experts: Randy and Tony from Richmond Aircraft Service at Northwest Regional Airport got it out and re-sealed in 15 minutes. Thanks, Gents!!
