Brief Description: Setting the horizontal Stab's angle of incidence
To set the horizontal stab's angle of incidence as prescribed in the builder's manual, I used a length of 3/16" steel bar from Home Depot as the spacer between the aft fuselage deck and the aft spar. With the forward spar bolted down to the deck (and shims in place) and with this 3/16" spacer placed under the aft spar, I measured the distance from the deck to the inboard ribs' machine holes at all four corners (visible in image 2).
All were exactly 1 5/8"! We clamped it down and drilled the aft bolt holes through the aft spar to the horizontal spar attachment bars.
