Brief Description:  Drilling and bolting the weldment side mounts

With the weldments bolted in with MOST of the bolts, it's now steady in place ready for the side bolts. As you can see in image 3, an arm carries forward along the cockpit side wall to accept two bolts. Five others (3 are in view) mount to the side wall beside the leg tube.

Using a #30 drill, I used the 5 prepositioned fuselage holes to matchdrill the 5 rear-most holes inward through the fuselage into the weldment. The forward weldment plate has two holes, so I matchdrilled through that outward plate through the fuselage (and almost into my leg!) Of those two holes, one was nearly totally obscured by the fuselage bulkhead, so I went at a slight angle. Once they were all drilled, I redrilled expanding the holes to 3/16 inch to accept the AN3 bolts.

I machine countersunk the two forward holes to accept a flush-top screw.

Deburr, tighten/torque the nuts, LocTite. DONE!

On to the cockpit systems. I'll skip mounting the wings until later when I have hanger space.
