Brief Description: Prepared wing root doubler 6ZU1-1 for installation
6ZU1-1 is one of the modifications I think is worthwhile. I've previously made the location for it, so now it must be drilled and mounted.
1. Using existing rivet holes, drilled through existing spar doublers and through 6ZU1-1. 2. Used AN3 bolts to hold 6ZU1-1 in place as holes were drilled. 3. Back drilled 1/4" hole in inboard most rivet hole per drawing. 4. Removed 6ZU1-1, and deburred. 5. Degreased with MEK. 6. Primed with zind chromate primer. 7.Replaced 6ZU1-1, and held in place with AN3 bolts.
I tried to start the rivets to hold 6ZU1-1 in place, but after three ruined rivets, I think I need to use AN3 bolts instead, which is allowed by drawing 6ZU1. I'm going to ruin something besides a rivet if I continue. This is a two person rivet job, and I don't have anyone available to help, much less someone who knows how to rivet.
