Brief Description: Installed shim under striker plates
I could not get the canopy to latch closed. I began to suspect it simply didn't sit down far enough on the striker plates. I tried a temporary shim, and it worked.
I then fabricated twoi shims from aluminum, the same size as the base of the striker plates, and installed them. This made the mounting bolts for the striker plates too short, so I replaced them with two AN3-7 bolts, with AN960 washers top and bottom.
While this allowed the canopy to latch, it became evident that, once sitting in the airplane, there was nothing to use to force the canopy down. This became the subject of the next "tweak."
