Brief Description:  Worked engine/ignition problems

It's been a very busy spring. First it was too cold to get much time in, then family matters kept me from getting much time on the aircraft.

With the separate CDI battery installed, I had great hopes for instant success. This was not to be. I had a fair amount of trouble getting the spark on all four cylinders, top and bottom. When this was corrected, I discovered that the CDI battery was no charging when the master switch was on.

Ignoring the "why" of this, I ran a separate lead from the main battery to the diode which feeds the CDI battery. This fixed that problem.

Closer examination suggested that the CDI trigger matgets were not installated at the correct location on the crankshaft cycle. I corrrected this, and the engine ran for the first time.

While I detected no leaks or indications of problems in the engine itself, I did discover that I had wired the mixture control in reverse. This is being corrected, after which a more extensive engine run will be made.
