Brief Description:  Re-installed oil pressure/temperature sensors

The oilt temperature and pressure sensors have been a hassle. The obvious place was the fitting in back of the oil screen, which is where Cessna places the oil temperature sensor on the 150. The threads of that fitting were unusual, and trying to cut matching threads on an adapter fitting has proven futile so far.

The other location, on the bottom stbd side of the engine, is where the previous pressure and sensors were located on this engine. However, due to the size of the pressure sensor, they had to be connected with a hose, a solution I didn't really care for. While the pressure might be accurate, the potential existed for the oil to cool some in the hose, giving a degree of inaccuracy to the oil temperature reading. That also left the fitting in back of the oil screen open, which was totally unacceptable. It needed to be at least plugged.

I finally found a matching fitting on a Piper oil temperature sensor that I had on hand. Better still, the inside of the fitting could be drilled and tapped to 1/8" npt, which matched either the oil temperature sensor or the oil pressure sensor. I drilled it and tapped it, and used it to install the oil pressure sensor. I used teflon tape to seal the installation (no gasket appoeared to be practical). I also used safety wire to insure the fitting did not work loose. (Inage 1)

I installed the oil temperature sensor directly to the lower stbd side of the engine case. (Image 2)

These are two of the infamous remaining 2% of the things that take 90% of the time. :)
