Brief Description:  Gap fix / hinge glue prep.

I started today by sanding down the layup I did to fix the gap on the right side upper cowl at the firewall. I included a picture of the now perfect gap and the one I had. I am very pleased with the result!

I then move onto getting the cowling ready to epoxy on the hinges. The top and bottom cowl are a bit different in thickness so I took off the hinges and sanded the top cowl until it matched the lower cowl. I still have areas that are about 1/32 different but that I can sand smooth once the hinges are glued and riveted in place. There are bigger gaps at the front but that will have to get some layups and filler to fix.

I started to mix up the resin to glue the hinges but then realized I had a party to go to and would not have the time to get things down without rushing so I threw it away and will work on this tomorrow.

Great thing I have learned about glass work is you can alway fix a mistake.
