Brief Description:  Clean and tape cockpit for paint

Well today was prepare for painting day and I am still not done. I started off by cleaning the cockpit with a diluted mixture of dawn dish soap and water and then wiping down with a clean damp rag. I still want to clean with some type of solvent before painting, after testing I found that Naphtha does the best, anything stronger and it takes the existing primer off.

I started with the job of taping everything up and this is when I found having the QB kit is a draw back, with the slow build I could have painted the parts before assembly, at the least I could have painted with the gear weld mounts and mid cockpit brace off. It is a pain to tape up these parts. I spent 3 hours working on this and I still have more to go! You can see from the pictures I am almost done.

The rotisserie is turning out to be great. I turned the thing up side down and initially blew the whole thing with the air hose to get all of the dust and metal shavings out. I still find stray bits of Styrofoam that has been stuck in cracks; the Styrofoam was used in the packing of all the parts put into the fuselage for shipping. Well it is now the next day so I have to finish up the taping and hopefully spray some paint.
