Brief Description:  Installed support clamp and stuff

Came back from a nice overnight for Valentines, the time away was nice and my finger is healing nicely so far. I went down to the shop to finish what I started when I drilled into my finger, which was to install a nut plate to hold a cushion clamp to support the wires going to the right side sub panel. After that I opened up the 37 pin D-sub connector to the FlightDeck 180 to remove some wires.

The harness I bought is used for standalone EMS units as well as combined EFIS/EMS units like mine. When you up date the firmware for the units you have to connect a laptop to a 9 min connector that is wired into the harness. The update to my unit only uses the 9 pin connector that goes to the 25 pin connector (EFIS side). Since the EFIS and EMS are internally connected the update happens via one connector. The connector in the 37 pin connector can be used to write data to a laptop but the units do internal data logging so I don’t think I will use this data line. Using an extractor I removed the 3 wires for this connection. I also removed the wires for audio alerts as the alerts will go through the HS34; this is connected to the intercom panel already. There are also 4 wires labeled as “unused” so I removed them. I did not want a rat’s nest of wires behind the panel so removing the wires from the connector seemed best. I will save the wires in case there is a need for them in the future.

I ended the night by doing more lace tying of the wires that go down behind the F804 bulkhead. This is a slow process as reaching into tie up things is tough.
